Family Update (June 08) Print E-mail

Hello family and friends,

Hope you have had a great weekend. On Saturday we went for a family bike ride. We now have 2 bikes, and the girls just sit on the back of the bike (very Cambodian).  the ride was great fun, the only tricky bit is crossing 271, which is a major road separating our suburb from the city.  Its like crossing coronation drive, with no traffic lights, you sort of ride at a 45 degree angle and cut across the traffic, which is all the more fun with the girls on the back of our bikes.  Caroline and Sophie got caught in the middle of the road, with a big truck coming their way...no drama for Caroline, confidently weaving her way in between traffic!

The big news is that I have been promoted to be the Country Director for Samaritans Purse in Cambodia.  An opportunity arose for Jack (current CD) to move to Myanmar (Burma) and lead SP's work in the country.  So, Jack and his wife Lynn left suddenly last week, and officially I am now the CD in Cambodia.

This will be a challenge, but also a great opportunity, I believe we have great potential in Cambodia, and I look forward to serving the team, and making a difference.

July will be a very busy month, as I will be leading a team of donors from Australia who are coming to open a new School funded by SP Australia.  The tour starts next Sat, June 28 and finishes July 6.   We also have a number of our key staff on 5 weeks home leave in July, so we will be pretty lean with staff.  I am reminded of Proverbs 3, 5-7, Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will guide your path. Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the LORD and shun evil.

Thanks for your prayers and encouragement for our family,

love

Jason, Caroline, Ellie and Sophie
