Self Publishing

With self-publishing, authors take the full financial risk, but reap the full benefits of the profits.

Writing and Editing

Author writes the entire manuscript or creates key structure and core content. The latter being in written notes and then edited by a sub-editor/‘ghost writer’ who then develops the full manuscript with the author’s input.

The following is a breakdown of costs involved:

  1. Outline – layout and style development
  2. Ghostwriting – Employ sub-editor/writer to develop manuscript
  3. Full copy editing. A thorough, detailed manuscript edit.
  4. Final polish and edit
  5. Cover design
  6. Typesetting and interior design and layout
  7. Printing costs. Usually printed in 2000+ unit runs to maximise cost effectiveness. Standard A5 trim size (but can be modified to suit material) with 4 colour gloss or matte finish for cover. Extra cover impressions like embossing, foiling etc would incur an extra cost. Normal burst bound binding. Other types of binding like section sewn etc incurs an added cost.
  8. Transport/shipping – author pays
  9. Marketing and distribution. Author handles all matters relating to sales and shipping to customers. CityHarvest can assist with limited inventory warehousing.
